WEDNESDAY, May 11th, 2011 positive vibrations on this day

bob_marley1 Thirty years ago today, music lost a bright shining star. Nesta Robert Marley was just 36 when cancer claimed his life, and the amazing performer has since become a lot of different things for different people. We just like to listen to him whenever we can. Here are a handful of his songs and some of the wise words they spread:

1. Concrete Jungle - Bob Marley
"No sun will shine in my day today. The high yellow moon won't come out to play."

2. I Shot The Sheriff - Bob Marley
"Every time I plant a seed, he said kill it before it grow. He said kill them before they grow."

3. Revolution - Bob Marley
"Let righteousness cover the earth like the water cover the sea, yeah!"

4. Redemption Song - Bob Marley
"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our minds."

5. Africa Unite - Bob Marley
"Africa unite, 'cause we're moving right out of Babylon, yeah, and we're grooving to our fathers' land."

6. Zion Train - Bob Marley
"Which man can save his brother's soul? Oh man, it's just self control. Don't gain the world and lose your soul. Wisdom is better than silver and gold."

7. Rastaman Vibration - Bob Marley
"If you get down and you quarrel every day, you're saying prayers to the devils, I say. Why not help one another on the way? Make it much easier."

8. Get Up, Stand Up - Bob Marley
"It's not all that glitters is gold, half the story has never been told. So now you see the light. Stand up for your rights!"

9. Natural Mystic - Bob Marley
"There's a natural mystic blowing through the air. If you listen carefully now you will hear. This could be the first trumpet, might as well be the last. Many more will have to suffer, many more will have to die. Don't ask me why."

10. Is This Love - Bob Marley
"I wanna love you and treat you right. I wanna love you every day and every night. We'll be together with a roof right over our heads. We'll share the shelter of my single bed."

11. No Woman, No Cry - Bob Marley
"Good friends we have had, good friends we've lost along the way. In this great future you can't forget your past, so dry your tears, I say."

12. One Love - Bob Marley
"Is there a place for the hopeless sinner who has hurt all mankind just to save his own? Believe me! One love, one heart. Let's get together and feel all right."

13. Small People - Ziggy Marley
And we close with shared wisdom from Bob's oldest son, and, as is our way with this list, some Muppets.
