WEDNESDAY, March 2nd, 2011 Dr Seuss, Lou Reed, and the Republic of Texas!

yertle-the-turtle March 2nd is the birthday of Theodore Geisel, better known as the great Dr Seuss. It also happens to be the birthday of another great wordsmith, Lou Reed. And it is also the day that the Republic of Texas declared its independence from Mexico. We feel that all of these things need to be celebrated, and we should do it quickly before Texas follows up on its threats of secession and we can't enjoy songs that mention the "Lone Star State" anymore. What better way to celebrate than with a Seuss-like poem and a play list? While we are aware that the good doctor would have done a much better job with this rhyme, we felt the need to constrain ourselves to rhyming words (and names) that actually exist. We hope this doesn't set him spinning in his grave: Dr Seuss on the loose, Riding in the caboose With a goose and a moose And a porter named Bruce. As the group rolls around On the radio is found Lou Reed singing with The Velvet Underground. As the train reaches Texas, The doc checks his reflexes, By asking Alexis To jab his solar plexus.
