WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19th, 2011 I Say It's My Birthday… It's My Birthday Too, Yeah!

JPK_5761 This week the play list falls smack dab on the anniversary of my birth! Many decades ago on this very day, I was born on a riverbank and set afloat in a basket of reeds to be rescued and raised by a wolf pack or pride of lions or some other four-legged carnivores. My memories are a bit fuzzy from all the fur and lack of photographs. Today, I am Joe, hear me roar! Or, if you'd prefer, have a listen to some songs I like. Happy Birthday, Me:

1. Fat Albert Opening Theme - Bill Cosby
The opening tune for the weekly visit with the man who may have had the largest influence on my formative years, not that I'm blaming him for anything.

2. Everything Touches Everything - These United States
This great song and awesome video have been patiently waiting for their opportunity to appear on a weekly playlist.

3. Carol Brown - Flight Of The Conchords
Crazy Kiwis strike a chord with this history of relationships gone awry set to music.

4. Forever Young - Bob Dylan
Every birthday should have a moment to soak in good wishes from Mr. Dylan.

5. Drinkalottawater - Mayor McCa
Just good advice and a fun video.

6. Superman - The Kinks
This track felt more poignant than I would have liked this morning, but I'm not getting any younger.

7. Almost Irish - Ceann
These kooks from Pittsburgh always amuse and have captured my imagination as well as my heart.

8. Woolgathering - Vandaveer
A sweet piece from a beloved band, and an awesome old-timey video to boot.

9. Three Little Birds - Bob Marley
This little mantra has gotten me through some rough patches with the right perspective.

10. Energy - The Apples In Stereo
There is a light inside of me, Robert, thanks for noticing.

11. Surfy The Spider - Run On Sentence
One of my all time favorite songs by a super nice and terrifically talented musician.

12. Happy Birthday - The Ramones
"Ah, these minstrels should soothe my jangled nerves."

13. The Rainbow Connection - Debbie Harry & Kermit the Frog
And the obligatory closing number from The Muppets, working in a nice appearance by the awesome Debbie Harry.
