Eleven Songs For An Extra Day

Leap Day is one of those technical aberrations that we take for granted until it rolls around every fourth year. It seems like a bonus day, although nature is not kind enough to make it that simple. Our dear Mother Earth completes her revolution around the sun in 365 days, 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 16 seconds. In addition to adding a day every four years, we skip Leap Day every hundred years unless the year is also divisible by 400. This means that the years 1600 and 2000 were leap years, and 2400 and 2800 will be too, but the years 1700, 1800 and 1900 were not, nor will 2100, 2200 and 2300. Simple, right? Yeesh. Now that we've thoroughly confused or bored you, here are eleven songs for the oddball day, paired with famous birthdays, deaths and historic events that occured on this rarest of calendar dates.
