TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5th, 2010the spy who loved us

covertaffairsCovert Affairs was one of the most popular new television series of the summer. (Or so USA Network tells us. Again. And again.) The show is set in Washington D.C. and follows the stylish and beautiful Annie Walker as she's whisked out of CIA training early and thrust into the field as a new agent (totally believable so far, right?). Annie has to work hard to balance her secret new life as a spy with her life at home with her sister’s family (who of course are clueless and constantly pester her about her dreary, boring life) in an amazing Georgetown townhouse. Whether on assignment in the District or jetting away to exotic missions in Venezuela, Zurich or Sri Lanka, Annie of course always looks picture perfect.

Imagine our (super-secret) delight and surprise when a new visitor to our store recently told us that she'd sussed us out because we're featured on the Covert Affairs blog as one of the shops that Annie would frequent to satisfy her stylish sensibilities. The customer wanted to walk in Annie's Manolo's, even for a moment.

That got us to thinking: what would we choose for Annie? For a lavish banquet mingling with diplomats: maybe this elegant new leopardy/sequiny number from Yoana Baraschi … And with fall arriving here in the District, Annie might need a jacket for the evening? How about the Abigail Glaum-Lathbury "Crompton" jacket? Perfect! And, for a subtle dash of color, a red moss agate ring? Voila! The perfectly-outfitted spy girl!

Want to dress Annie yourself? Go to it! We'll send your creations on to USA, who undoubtedly should know how real Proper Topper shoppers would dress their gal pal (who happens to be a spy).
