THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24th, 2011play list of the week: reader-submitted.

guitarcircleWe put out an all-call last week for readers' play list suggestions because we're working so hard on our sale and on playing with the new things pouring into our shop that we just didn't have time to be creative. Thank you, readers, for picking up the slack and finding some gems that all magically work together in a 13-song play list, from classic R&B to modern folk. It's as if you were all in cahoots with one another...

1. "Washington DC" - The Magnetic Fields
{submitted by Michelle, "in honor of Presidents Day"}
2. "You Can't Always Get What You Want" - The Rolling Stones
{submitted by Charlie, in praise of classic rock}
3. "It's Too Late" - Otis Redding
{submitted by Natasha, in praise of Otis Redding}
4. "Praise You" - Fatboy Slim
{submitted by lexilooo, because it's just a "great song"}
5. "Under My Thumb" - The Rolling Stones
{Charlie, again}
6. "Bring it on Home to Me" - Sam Cooke
{submitted by Mary J, who fully supported Natasha's Otis suggestion, as well}
7. "You've Got the Love" - Florence and the Machine
{submitted by Brooke, because "she always puts some pep in my step on my walk to work"}
8. "This Modern Love" - Bloc Party
{submitted by Laura C, because it's a "gem"}
9. "Please Please Me" - The Beatles
{submitted by Andrea C, who's in the mood for some Beatles}
10. "City of Blinding Lights" - U2
{submitted by Tori, who had nothing but exclamation marks to say about this song}
11. "Stay (I Missed You)" - Lisa Loeb
{lexilooo, again, who is on the hunt for this in ring-tone form}
12. "Birds" - Kate Nash
{Laura C, again, for those who are "into adorably cheeky Brits"}
"Home" - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
{submitted by Jessica, and we thought it would be the perfect closing song}
BONUS: Check out the track following Edward Sharpe's "Home" to be treated to an acoustic cover version by a father/daughter duo. It might make you cry, it's so great. Be warned.
