THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10th, 2009 rules for my unborn son: how to become a good egg

10021 rules_unborn_sonWe love this book. Writer and documentary filmmaker Walker Lamond's "rules" are wry observations about how to chart a steady, cool course. They're things he wanted to remember to tell his unborn son, to get "straight before I get old and uncool." Some of our favorites:

"Be a good listener. Don’t just wait your turn to talk."
"Your best chance of being a rockstar is learning the bass."
"You don't get to choose your own nickname."

The book is spiced with great photos and quotes and lots of music references. Both personal and universal ("son" can almost always be swapped for "daughter"), the rules seem handy for anyone trying to navigate the confusing morass of life in 2010 with consideration, tact and style.Walker_Lamondwp

Good news for the author: the just-published book has already sold through its first printing. But, as luck would have it, we have a book signing this Wednesday, December 16th, and we've got a handsome stack of books waiting to be signed.

Did we mention that Walker and his wife have a son (and daughter) now? And that they happen to live just down the street in Georgetown? And that Walker was chosen by our Panel for the Best Dressed List:DC? Yeah. Too cool for rules. Still, somehow we haven't yet met. We'll fix that shortly, and we hope you can join us.

Dupont Circle shop, Wednesday December 16th, 4 - 7 pm.
