Unlike the courageous men of the General Congress, we're not writing oaths of faith and independence this weekend. But we're honoring and celebrating all those who fought -- and continue to fight -- for the privilege to call America the land of the free (and our home): + Fireworks, OF COURSE. Where will you be watching these explosions of light? Proper Topper will have employee outposts in Florida, Delaware, Virginia, and various barbecues and festivities throughout our nation's capital. + Parades. Like this one. Nothing too fancy, mind you. Just invited bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military and specialty units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams, VIPs, national dignitaries, and celebrity participants. + A gala, to which we wish we were invited. Mr. and Mrs. Obama, please be our friends. + Festivals. Like this one. (Hurry, scurry! It ends Monday!) + Movies. An 80s classic, al fresco. Or a 90s classic, for the literal-minded celebrants among us. + Friends and family. And burgers. And Pancake Day, 4th-of-July edition. + RED. WHITE. and BLUE. Happy 4th of July! 4thpancakes
