welcome {is that the SUN?!} weekend.

It's been a dreary week in DC, and today, we finally see the sun, in all its blazing glory. Here's what we did to pass the time and what we're doing this weekend to clear our gloomy, rainy heads.

+ We added the coolest umbrellas EVER to our collection.
+ We continued with our Catch of the Day specials, inspired by our upcoming BOOK SIGNING on Wednesday, September 14. We're so excited to welcome chef Barton Seaver and his wife, Carrie Anne, to sign copies of their book, For Cod and Country! They'll be in the shop from 4:30 to 7:30, so join us to taste delicious recipes from the book, sip wine, and talk fish. {Kindly RSVP to if you'll be stopping by. We want to make sure we have enough goodies for all!}

+ Also upcoming: the District Sample Sale! We'll be there on Monday, September 26, with delightfully discounted items. {Tickets available here.}
+ We're so, SO ready for fall, dear readers. Not only does autumn mean we get to wear fall clothes and coats and hats (like this and this and this), but we also get a fresh crop of touring bands coming to our fair city. And guess what?! One of our very favorites, These United States, is giving a DC farewell concert tomorrow night at the Black Cat. Don't worry---they'll be back on tour, but, as the last remaining DC resident is moving, they are giving a bittesweet, extra-special show for their now former hometown. Read what The Post says, and have a listen below, as you get your tickets. We'll see you there!
