wonders never cease Friday, October 29, 2010

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29th, 2010welcome weekend.

A wrap-up of a couple of weeks of wonderment ...

+ FAREWELL, sweet shop! With just 3 days left in our Georgetown shop (and a cold front & Halloween & sanity-restorin' folks blowing in this weekend!), we're seeing lots of friends, old & new, coming through our SALE. Come say goodbye with us. We’ll be serving cider and cookies and packing up all weekend. 10:30 – 6:30 Saturday, 11 – 4 Sunday. The End. {For now. Yup, gears are turning ... }

+ Speaking of Halloween, we love the daily-costume-changing skeleton in front of our friends' house. (Ooh, look: the French-impressionist ensemble includes a Borasalino from us. Those bones have great taste!)

+ A gorgeous new library rose from the ashes last week, and lucky Lucy got to check out the first book. library.collage2

How could three years have passed since we launched our Library CD at the 9:30 Club? (Lucy, then 2, might've been the youngest customer to ever hit the dance floor for an evening performance there ... ) We've raised over $10,000 for the libraries, and we're still selling those CDs, and 100% of revenue is still going to DCPL.

+ In lovely symmetry, These United States a driving force behind that CD, is back in town, performing at Iota Saturday night. Who'll be there with us?

+ Some mad ideas came our way as we did the hatting at a Mad Hatter's Tea Party for THEARC last week. It was so much fun, we want to make it a habit! Let us know if you'd like us to help you throw your own Madhatter party -- for your favorite charity, or just for fun. madhatting

+ And, while we're talking tea, let's turn to another marvelously civilized event: The Tweed Ride, sponsored by the Dandies & Quaintrelles, is coming up on November 14th. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday. Thank you, D&Q, for bringing such style and wit to our town -- and for a nice nod to our final weekend in Georgetown.

And we've now come full circle - have a grand weekend, all!
