something nor’easterly this way comes.

No sooner have we all but forgotten about heat waves and droughts than we have new, autumnal weather drama: the nor'easter.* There's one headed our way this weekend, so now's the perfect time to break out the slipper socks and board games. Stock up on your firewood and hot chocolate (which may or may not include peppermint schnapps), for we might have a snowy Saturday ahead. For those undeterred by a wintry mix, do have fun and be safe on this Halloween weekend, and check back in on Monday for a staff round-up of favorite Halloweens of yore.

*A nor'easter is so named because it travels northeast from the south, with northeasterly winds. It can occur at any time of year, but is most common in winter. A nor'easter can bring HEAVY SNOW. Even in OCTOBER. Time for the obligatory flight to the grocery store for bottled water and milk, only to find out that everyone else had the same idea, only to further find out that this isn't the end of the world and you'll be just fine with a good book or a "Law + Order" marathon while the nor'easter blows.
